Located on Manhattan's Beekman Place, this apartment is a combination of an unrenovated Studio and adjacent 2 Bedroom totaling some 2,500 square feet in an elegant pre-war building ca. 1920. While the apartments had been denuded of any original detail, a survey of neighboring spaces and a careful demolition provided sufficient clues in the effort to restore the interiors to an authentic vocabulary native to the building itself. The net result is a gracious family home consisting of a windowed Kitchen, Dining Room/Foyer, Living Room/Library with fireplace, two children's Bedrooms with Baths, and a large Master Suite which includes a separate Entrance and Vestibule, Walk-in Closets, Home Office, Bathroom, and Sleeping Room. A variety of base, door, window, and crown mouldings were emulated throughout as well as such details as arched openings, wall paneling, and Kitchen cabinetry. |
